05.Jun.2010 Clearing a path

Ian has a fair bit of junk piling up around his place. This morning we went around there to help him start getting rid of some of it. After a tasty breakfast of bacon and eggs, we set to work mowing his yard and clearing out his rubbish. We managed one trailer load to the dump but have only really scratched the surface. I suspect that we’ll be back around at his place in the near future to finish the job.

24.May.2010 Laying a slab

On the 22nd of May the guys headed around to Garth’s place to help him lay some concrete and uproot some palm trees. Martin and Jayesh made short work of the palms while David, Ian and Garth labored away at the concrete. After a few hours of work the job was done. All that was left was for Garth’s daughter to jump in the freshly laid concrete in her bare feet – much to the dismay of her mother!

Home for sale

A few snaps from when we went around to Beren’s place to help him clean up his yard before he sold his place. Rebuild chipped in for a skip to take away some of his rubbish and provided some muscle to clean out the forest growing in his backyard.

15.Mar.2010 Lending a hand at Redbank Plains

On Saturday, the 13th of March, Rebuild Westside travelled out to Redbank Plains in response to a request to help a couple of ladies. Their house and yard were clearly in need of some TLC so we did what we could in the short time we had. Nigel started by clearing out the overflowing gutters, Cookie went to work with the whipper snipper while Jayesh proceeded to cut down a nuisance tree. Martin cleaned up around the back and I helped load up the skip that had been kindly arranged by the Oxley Uniting Church. After a couple of hours work the place was looking more manageable, though we wish we could have done more. However I think our greatest contribution was the encouragement and motivation our visit gave to the two ladies to help themselves.

Our thanks goes to Sharon for all her organisational efforts.

27.Feb.2010 Another day, another stump

On Saturday morning we ventured around to Jayesh’s place to see what we could find. After enjoying a delicious breakfast we found a few odd jobs to do, inluding pulling down some guttering, cutting some weeds and digging up an unwanted tree stump. We thought the latter was going to be tough. But after about half an hour digging we managed to dig around all the roots and pull it out. We were all finished by 10 am and on our merry ways.
